Gugulethu holds a BCom and PostGraduate Diploma in Management from UCT. She completed her articles at The South African Breweries Limited. She is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Management Accountant. After completing her articles, she worked for SAB as a Financial Planner, where she developed a passion for business operations and leading financial processes. She later joined Chevron South Africa as a Corporate Tax Specialist and led a large-scale implementation project when VAT was legislated in Swaziland. She remained in the oil and gas industry when she joined Shell South Africa in the role of Retail Economics Manager. She then moved onto her current role at Shell as a Retail Finance Manager for South Africa, where she looks after a portfolio of more than 650 service stations and serves on several leadership teams. Gugulethu is passionate about gender activism and advocacy. She produced The Vagina Monologues (South Africa). She’s also the force behind women empowerment initiatives at Shell and has been honoured with a Shell Excellence Award for her efforts. She serves as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Bituguard South Africa and is a Trustee of the Shell South Africa Retirement Fund. She is also a representative on the SAICA Ethics Committee.
